In 2011 the Sail Loft (adjacent to The Red Lion) was turned into 6 beautiful luxury bedrooms that have the best views going.

We source much of our food from the estate. Fresh fish, crabs and lobster are all landed on the quay at Clovelly daily, in season. We’re also part of the sustainable fishing partnership, to ensure our waters have lobster for generations to come. The Red Lion also has a number of vegetarian and vegan options to choose from.

Visiting Clovelly

Clovelly is a beautiful, picturesque fishing village, steeped in maritime atmosphere and history. It was once owned by the Queen of England!

Originally the estate was owned by William the Conqueror, King of England, gifted to his wife and then had many royal associations until 1242 when first acquired by the Giffard family. Until the middle of the 19th century Clovelly was unknown to the outside world.

Clovelly Christmas Lights – Sunday 3rd December

The Christmas lights turn on is a magical time in Clovelly. Starting at 4 pm in the afternoon, a local brass band leads the procession down to the harbour, with festive Christmas carols sung along the way.

There’ll be a hog roast, hot dogs, Christmas grog and other refreshments available at the Harbour and Lifeboat Station. Then, Father Christmas will make a surprise visit!

Entrance fee:  £10 per car at the Visitor Centre after 2 pm. All proceeds will go to the R.N.L.I.
