Clovelly Estate is honoured and humbled to have been the outright WINNER of the Landlord/Housing Association Award. This was presented at the Annual Award Ceremony at Filton, Bristol on 29th March.
Cottages in the historic picturesque fishing village of Clovelly do not have the ”built in” thermal efficiency of modern homes. To address this, Clovelly Estate embarked three years ago on a programme of retrofitting measures including draught proofing, loft insulation, sloping ceiling insulation and secondary glazing. The latter is unobtrusive, and scarcely noticeable from the inside, let alone the outside.
This is entirely due to a simple but ingenious system developed by Mitchell and Dickinson, Bideford – experts in retrofitting Britain’s period houses and listed homes.
The objectives were to improve warmth and comfort for tenants, to reduce heating bills and raise the Energy Performance Certificate ratings to E or above.
The South West Energy Efficiency Group reviews schemes for reducing carbon outputs and has for the last six years made awards for Best Practice.
