This is a very special Hotel in a unique and lovely location. A very traditional offer overall but is well equipped, comfortable and with friendly staff. Easy, relaxed and very much worth the price. If you like a piece of old English travel in one of the quaintest and romantic locations – this will fit the bill.

Stayed for a weekend and from the time we arrived the service and friendlies of all the staff was exceptional. Covid restrictions were well managed with a good system for collecting food. A wonderful way to spend a few days chilling out with good beer and wonderful food.

We had the nicest stay at the Red Lion. We visited with our dogs and stayed in one of the dog friendly rooms which was so spacious and clean you’d never know it had dogs there previously. We even had our own outside door taking us straight out to the front which was so handy when we needed to let the dogs out. The lady at reception was so friendly and welcoming. We ate at the snug bar and had the seafood sharer which was absolutely delicious. We can’t fault our stay and are already looking at when we can next come.

Fantastic. Staff are very friendly and welcoming. Our deluxe room in the sail loft, was beautifully appointed. The under floor heating in the bathroom was very warm and cosy. For breakfast we were spoilt for choice. We are here for a second night. It’s definitely worth the trip. Thank you Red Lion!

Nothing could be faulted. We loved the room , the bed, the shower, the view , the food, the staff – reception, bar, kitchen, restaurant and car park – and Clovelly itself, of course. It was only one night, to break our journey to Cornwall, and it was a wonderful start to our holiday. Can’t wait to stay again, and hopefully, for longer next time.

We love Clovelly and could think of nothing better than spending the night there after an enjoyable days visit. The Red Lion is situated right on the quayside and our room had lovely views overlooking the sea. The room was well appointed, spacious and clean. The whole place felt COVID safe and the staff were very organised. The welcome was warm and friendly and check in and out easy and seem less. The room rate wasn’t bad either, given the location and quality.

Had a fantastic long weekend stay in this lovely hotel in an absolutely stunning setting, our room (room 5) had the most gorgeous views out to sea and across the harbour. Fresh lobster was on my plate in the restaurant 1hr after coming off the fishing boat .. delicious !!

… loved it so much, we’ve booked again for next year 😁

We loved being so close to the waterfront and hearing the sounds of the sea and gulls. Clovelly has a peaceful and charming atmosphere. The staff at the hotel were very friendly and helpful and our room, no. 7, was clean and comfortable.
